I've learned recently that iOS does not separate notifications into channels. You either get them or you don't.

You can't turn off ads for apps and keep the notifications you care about.

The shittiest Huawei phone has this critical feature. And that's just one.

@r000t @greentext wait, there's a way to potentially blocks notifs you don't want in Android?

Long press a notification, or go to an app's info/settings.

You can block them entirely, make them collapsed, or show/not show titles/content on the lock screen, or always be silent, or always make noise, or use a different sound, etc.

YouTube and Fedilab as examples.

God damn I love using a real phone.

@r000t @greentext oh god, I don't know why I never bothered to check, but the stupid uber apps DOES have the ads notifications in a separate category you can turn off

@birdulon This one service turns out to be a better economic decision for me; For my particular set of inputs, the sub ends up being economically advantageous here.

The value of my time * the number of hours I would need to spend per month to for-sure block 100% of ads across every device that six people use is *more* than the monthly fee. I would be *foolish* to go a different path.

If we want to act high and mighty, I'm absolutely sure there's *something* you pay for that I can smugly scoff at.

@birdulon *that* I couldn't do anymore. When I literally had cash to launder, that was doable, but when I'm broke, I'm not paying $70 to watch the same fucking news channels say the same shit and then show me the same ads for medications I don't want.

*that* math says fuck the police, steal everything. @greentext @coolboymew @Relected
