Now blocklists are being made with criteria such as "uses pleroma" or "uses soapbox". And remember, meta aggregate lists are now being made, which means that being in any of *these* lists makes you more likely to end up on *other* lists later on.
Then, people will be told that these lists contain 100% horrible awful things and 0% false positives and to just apply them bro.
In other words, fediblock is going just great.

There are probably more instances run by LGBT people in there just for running Pleroma, and none of them realize why this is a bad idea. Of course their harm is to fuck over anyone who doesn't run specific Mastodon Ally approved software, and Pleroma has to go because enough of the bad people (Poast and the sphere around it) run it. The fact that there's no Akkoma instances seals the deal, as to them running Akkoma is like lamb blood on your door at passover.
Which means that sooner or later people are going to start faking user agents to avoid blocklists.
I did want to know though, I thought Soapbox was only a front-end and it still needed a back-end code such as Mastodon or some-such to pair it with?
Rebased is the fork of pleroma because the pleroma devs stonewalled Alex just because of his politics mostly, or you could say it's pleroma how Alex wants it. Soapbox runs on pleroma, mastodon (truth social does this), and rebased officially. It can run on akkoma but there's akkoma dev induced jank.

@r000t@ligma.pro These people should legitimately just adopt white-list federation. If an instance is going to adopt a 1,200-instance blocklist then they have essentially left the fediverse entirely and are no longer on the network. So, at that point, I guess it doesn't matter. They're gone.
@graf@poa.st Fediverse is also sort of split along language-lines and that doesn't take into account instance sizes (# users/instance). It doesn't matter, I guess. Mastodon is going to create its own closed-off Mastodon-fediverse (which they'll just call "Mastodon" [they're already doing this and get upset when people correct them lol]). @r000t@ligma.pro

I use the term "Iron Curtain" to describe the phenomenon. There are those who want to live under a repressive, censorious, feature-nerfed, controlling, highly-ideological bubble (Mastodoners---those on the other side of this "curtain").. and then there are those of us in the fediverse equivalent of a metaphorical "West". Not many people in the West during the Cold War upset that it was difficult or impossible to travel to Romania or Yugoslavia. Why be there when you could holiday to France or Japan? @r000t@ligma.pro
